Our Teachers

The quality of any child development center is a direct reflection of its staff.  Hamilton Heights Child Development Center recognizes its employees as the center's most valuable component.  Working with children can be a tremendously rewarding career and it takes a very special person to do it well.  The staff at Hamilton Heights exceeds all recommended requirements for the early childhood education field.  The teachers at Hamilton Heights meet the needs of both the center and of the families.  For this reason, we are committed to providing a working environment that exemplifies cooperation and support.

Our teachers exceed the requirements set by the State of Nebraska for qualifications and annual training.  Full-time lead and assistants are required to take at least 24 hours of training each year, which is 12 hours more than state requirements.  Part-time teachers are obligated to complete at least 12 hours of training annually, which is 6 hours more than state requirements.  All staff members are required to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid.  The cost of training is paid for by the center.

Our teachers go through a rigorous screening and inteview process before they are hired.  Each applicant must have a background check through the child abuse registry.  We do not hire individuals convicted of child abuse and/or neglect.  We only accept teachers with a commitment to parents and children.  In order to optimize your child's growth and development, we hire teachers who are interested in providing quality care and stimulating environments.  Only the  best qualified applicants are selected to become Hamilton Heights teachers.

As part of employment with Hamilton Heights, teachers complete a six-week orientation with their direct supervisor.  This orientation gives them the foundation and knowledge of Hamilton Heights high quality standards, expectations, and curriculum.  This training also educates teachers on the standards provided through State Licensing and the Health Department.

Teachers are formally observed by program directors twice per year and the center's owner/executive director two times throughout the year.  A Teacher's Coach/Professional Development Coordinator is available to teachers any time they need ideas and guidance.  The Teacher's Coach/Professional Development Coordinator also spends a large amount of time mentoring individual classrooms and teachers, giving them feedback and helping them to develop goals for continued growth of their classroom.  Teachers are also observed informally on a daily basis.
